TO THE YOUNG CHEVALIER.
Presumptuous youth! To Kingdom's quit thy claim!
Charles Francis, James, or John, whate'er thy name;
Fly, and thy flag no longer dare display,
In fancy'd triumph*, o'er the watry war:
Tell faithless France, and unrelenting Spain,
Heav'n guards our isle, and all their arts are vain.
   * alluding to the motto on his standard, Tandem
Triumphans.
